What Were Lucifer´s Intentions by Rebelling Against God?

  • For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. - Isaiah 14:13-14 KJV

The sovereignty and character of God were at the center of Lucifer's accusations. The Sin of Lucifer and his angels was the desire to go beyond the limits of a creature and pretend to be equal to the Creator. That was the essence of Lucifer´s subversive message.

In his opinion, God was unfair by giving His creatures a law that could not be complied with –thus, He did not deserve to be recognized as sovereign. That was also the main argument for the temptation of Adam and Eve, namely, that God is egotistic and does not desire the progress of His children.

  • And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. - Genesis 3:4-5 KJV
