What does the Bible say about the Trajectory of Light?

  • Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, - Job 38:19 KJV

This passage says the light travels through a "way". In Hebrew derek literally means "road" or "way". Until the seventeenth century, it was believed that that light emerged instantaneously.

However, Isaac Newton proved that light is made up of small particles that travel in straight lines. Subsequently, Christiaan Huygens proposed the wave theory of light, and Ole Roemer measured the velocity of light as it traveled through space.

Today it is known that light is a form of energy that makes objects visible and travels through particles called photons in a straight line at a velocity of 300,000 kilometers per second.

How was the author of the book of Job able to speak about light traveling on a path, or way, when the velocity of light would not be discovered until centuries later?

The Bible is God´s inspired Word.
