How is the Unity of the Bible Revealed?

  • For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. - 2 Peter 1:21 KJV

The unity of the Bible is one of the reasons we can have confidence in the prophetic word. The word "Bible" comes from the Greek word biblia, meaning "library" (literally "books").

It is a collection of 66 books divided into two parts: the Old Testament, 39 books, and the New Testament, with 27 books.

Most of the 40 biblical authors did not know one another. They lived in distinct eras and places over a span of 1,600 years. Among them were statesmen, shepherds, doctors, farmers, kings, and scholars. And yet there is an amazing unity among them. One confirms what the other say.

The Holy Ghost preserved the truth in earthen vessels:

  • But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV
