How Did God Demonstrate That Love?

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 KJV

God´s love is not something figurative but a reality that reaches profound dimensions:

  • But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8 KJV

The Son of God did not die only for those who are good. He gave Himself in sacrifice when we were all "still sinners". Only God can love with unlimited love.

The Bible reveals the essence of divine love on the fact that the Father delivered the Son:

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 KJV

  • He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? - Romans 8:32 KJV

  • For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. - 2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV

And, at the same time, the Son gave Himself for us

  • I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20 KJV

  • And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. - Ephesians 5:2 KJV

  • How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? - Hebrews 9:14 KJV

Paul speaks about the Son´s infinite love, saying that He:

  • Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. - Philippians 2:6-8 KJV
